Shiven's sunset When the new site was being made, I completely redrew all of the characters with new looks. Not since the original PMS had I been actively drawing and digitally coloring pictures, so I thought it was time for a new look since my Photoshop skills have improved a lot since PMS. Among the new pictures are two in particular that I really like. One of them is Shiven's picture in her character profile, and the other is this one. I originally drew this one to be scaled down for use in the main screen's buttons, but when I was done I realized I liked it too much to be just represented by a tiny 50 pixel picture. I think the reason why I liked these two in particular is because they are drawn with poses that I don't normally draw. I mean, if you look at the pics before these, they are usually depicted standing and facing the viewer... never on a side or a rear angle. So I flipped through some magazines and used some images as source images. This one was actually drawn off a video game ad for Outlaw Volleyball. I added the leather outfit and changed the face and hair... but the pose is very similar. I somehow got the leather to sheen just right... I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it as well in the future though. I just got lucky. The lighting's also pretty soft in this image... and thus the shadowing is kept to a mimimum... although her back really shouldn't be that dark and shadowy, but I guess I got kinda lazy. What did take me ages to do though, was adding the shadow to her coinslot. I wanted it to be pronounced, and yet not too deeply pronounced as if some Cinematographer had lit the scene around her ass-crack. Actually, the original drawing portrayed her wearing a red G-string (like she does in the velvet/fishnet dress pic... I developed a thing for red underwear after watching Christina Aguilera's Dirrty video) but Tammy thought it would be totally tacky and trashy so I had it removed. Is it tackier to wear an exposed G-string or to just go commando with low-fitting pants? Lastly, this was also the first of the new redesigned Shiven pics that I did, so I hit a little dilemma: Should I give the new Shiven pupils? Traditionally Shiven was drawn with eyes that were little more than sharp triangles, giving her these blank narrow eyes. The new Shiven has more normal eyes that have a softer, oval shape. But should these eyes have pupils, or should I stick to the traditional white eyes? Because the blank eyes sorta imply that I got lazy (any blank white space makes me feel like I got lazy... thus I totally got rid of all blank white spaces in the new site design).
In the end I did neither and gave her the limegreen eyes that she now has... so that Shiven's look incorporates all of the website colors into her design. Her hair is purple with mauve highlights just like the website's two primary colors, and her eyes share the same lime-green as the texts' highlight color. --- But does anyone care? I guess not. Nobody reads anything here unless I use words like "aggravated fuck-hole" or say shit like "I wanna feed Nicole Kidman glass shards at gunpoint." And I've managed to write quite a bit in this page without any profanity, so that must mean attention levels have dropped away and nobody is reading this anymore. So while nobody's reading, I'll just say a few words like "THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS RULE!"
