Ass Wide Shut, in A Minor

I first watched Eyes Wide Shut with Mel, and we were totally stunned by it. When the movie ended, we stared blankly at the screen hoping for a hidden punch line or something. Anyway, since then I've nurtured a little dislike for the film, which led to the creation of Ass Wide Shut.

AWS is a comparison I made between the Eyes Wide Shut and the ancient Sierra computer game series Leisure Suit Larry. Both feature a protagonist seeking love and sexual fulfillment in strange and weird places, but the two couldn't be any more different on the surface. So I made a little song by piecing together samples taken from lots of computer games like Star Control 2, The Sims, Diablo and of course, Larry, and then I took clips of Eyes Wide Shut and edited it to go with the 2 minute song. What I ended up with was a music video that totally destroyed Eyes Wide Shut. From some super-artsy piece of shit, it became totally comical with toilet-humor (provided by Larry), catchy quirky techno beats and MTV style rapid cuts.

I got my first Distinction grade in my sound media class for AWS, because my lecturer totally loved it.
